Losartan
Blood pressureAlso known as Cozaar
Losartan is an ARB (angiotensin receptor blocker). It blocks the same vessel-tightening hormone that ACE inhibitors like lisinopril target, just one step further along — which is why it does the same job without causing the famous dry cough. It also helps protect kidneys in people with diabetes.
How to take it
When
Once a day, same time each day.
Food
With or without food.
Avoid
Potassium-based salt substitutes and potassium supplements unless approved — losartan raises potassium. Regular ibuprofen or naproxen can blunt its effect and strain kidneys.
Getting started
Rise slowly from sitting or lying down for the first few days in case of dizziness.
Missed a dose?
Take it when you remember, unless the next dose is close — then skip. One dose at a time, always.

Call a doctor if
- Swelling of the face, lips, or tongue — emergency
